COVID-Associated Mucormycosis: Review of Cases Reported Worldwide and in India

Objective: The aim of this review literature is to collate and analyse various case reports series reporting mucormycosis in COVID post-COVID patients India worldwide. Methods: A systematic search was conducted from December 2019 June 2021 using keywords. Details all the reports/ that reported rhino-orbital-cerebral settings were retrieved analysed. Results: In review, 33 articles included a total 181 cases reported. Mucormycosis predominantly seen males (71.2%) as compared females (28.7%). History steroid use present 113 (62.4%). Type 2 diabetes mellitus most common independent risk factor, 138 (76%). Sino-nasal involvement 27 (14.9%), rhino-orbital 114 (62.9%), andrhino-orbital-cerebral observed 40 (22%). Improvement clinical status 106 (58.5%) while 38 (21%) expired. Conclusions: rapid rise had been era.
